Valves for Obnoxious Gases & Valves with Fugitive Emission Tests

When we are dealing with some of the most hazardous gases — hydrogen, phosgene, chlorine, toluene and the like — it is mandatory that the valves are offered with an extreme level of testing, where even a leak of 10⁻⁷ cc of helium per cc of air from anywhere, including the body–bonnet joint, gland packing or the seating area, is a reject.

We have strong experience in manufacturing valves for such services, including self-actuating swing check valves that have passed fugitive emission tests to API 624 and API 641.

Our experience is in manufacturing metal seated valves and soft seated valves for such demanding services.

Valves for Vacuum Services

As the world of process flow control moves towards greater efficiency, it is moving to vacuum processing — especially sectors such as soda ash, caustic soda, staple fibre and salt production, and marine chemicals, which are turning to vacuum processing more and more.

With this change in the process requirements, there is a need to change the valves that are being used for such applications as well.

It is a common misconception that a conventional valve will work for vacuum services as well, which is far from the truth.

Drastic design changes are needed if valves are to sustain vacuum effectively and efficiently, even at low vacuum levels.

Special testing is needed to confirm the valve can sustain vacuum over a long period with minimum suction pumping; otherwise the plant's operating cost rises sharply and the whole reason for moving to vacuum processing is lost.
