Chimanlal Karsandas Mashruwala

since 1911
Mr Chimanlal Karsandas Mashruwala was one of the first importers of pipes, pipe fittings and valves in Western India and had been in the valve trade since 1911.

Mr Chimanlal Karsandas Mashruwala was one of the first importers of pipes, pipe fittings and valves in Western India and had been in the valve trade since 1911. Later his son Mr Sharad C Mashruwala with his brother joined the family business in the 1950s and expanded the empire of the Mashruwala family with various firms dealing in pipe fittings, valves, flanges and pipe trading.

Sharad C Mashruwala

1960
Mr Sharad C Mashruwala with his brothers established Venus Engineering Works in 1960 as a company dealing with the manufacturing of industrial valves and fittings.

Mr Sharad C Mashruwala with his brothers established Venus Engineering Works in 1960 as a company dealing with the manufacturing of industrial valves and fittings. The company got many accolades and approvals throughout the 1970s including IBR approvals in 1975.

Mr Anand S Mashruwala, son of Mr Sharad C Mashruwala, joined the family business in 1980 and the family was considered to be leaders in the piping industry throughout the 1980s.

In 1987 the firm was reconstituted and Venus Engineering Works came under the sole stewardship of Mr Sharad C Mashruwala and Mr Anand S Mashruwala. Through the late 1980s and early 1990s, Venus Engineering Works focused solely on industrial valves and led the HVAC, fire protection and cooling plant sectors.

Anand S Mashruwala

1980
Over the next decade Venus Engineering Works became a name to reckon with in the heavy chemicals and mining beneficiation industry.

Since early 1990 Mr Anand Mashruwala started engaging with clients to understand their specific problems and started developing valves for highly erosive services of the mining sector, extremely corrosive services of pure water plants, and brine applications.

In the year 1999 Venus Engineering Works was one of the first industrial valve manufacturers of India and one of the first companies of Gujarat to have ISO 9002 quality management certifications, along with various other recognitions.

Over the next decade Venus Engineering Works became a name to reckon with in the heavy chemicals and mining beneficiation industry.

Anay Mashruwala

2008
Mr Anay Mashruwala institutionalised the concept of innovation and design at the very core of the company

In the year 2008, Mr Anay Mashruwala joined the operations of Venus Engineering Works after his graduation in Engineering and Post-graduation in Management. Mr Anay was regular at the company where he was making pouring charge reports of the casting furnace at the age of 12 and had made his first marketing visit for the company at the early age of 16 years. Coming with fresh ideas and vigour, Mr Anay Mashruwala institutionalised the concept of innovation and design at the very core of the company, under the close watch and guidance of Mr Anand Mashruwala and Mr Sharad C Mashruwala.

The company received ISO 9001:2000 certification in June 2008, with state-of-the-art design modules operational and included in the certified system.

Over the years Venus Engineering Works developed capabilities and facilities in non-destructive testing and painting, and expanded its manufacturing capacity many times over.

In the year 2016, with an intention to further increase its production capacities and better implement the best manufacturing thought of 5S, lean manufacturing, and best practices in health, safety and environment protection, Venus Engineering Works shifted its manufacturing location to a much larger space.

Today Venus Engineering Works engages closely with engineering consultancy companies, EPC contractors, end users, project managers, maintenance managers and process engineers to solve their problems by developing specifications, designing, manufacturing, testing and inspecting process control devices for the specific needs of the users.

In recent years Venus Engineering Works has designed valves for obnoxious gas services, hydrogen gas services and extreme pressure applications; design upgrades for valves in the highly erosive mining beneficiation sector; tamper-proof air valves with quick response for large-diameter water lines; and kinetic air valves for sea water applications, to name a few.

Because of such rich experience, Mr Anay Mashruwala is called upon as a speaker and consultant at national and international forums on innovation and entrepreneurship, including IIM Ahmedabad, Pandit Deendayal Energy University, Nirma University and Ahmedabad University in India, and he has worked closely with professors at Keio University Japan, the Center for Design Research at Stanford University and Judge Business School at Cambridge University, to name a few.
